On Tuesday, the US House of Representatives supported the bill and government funding. Now, the Senate vote is awaited, which will determine whether a government shutdown will occur, according to CNN.

"Speaker Mike Johnson today succeeded in a decisive House plan, which looks to fund the government into the fall, had to overcome far-right opposition in the party," CNN reported.

The publication added that the government funding bill must now be passed by the US Senate. The deadline is Friday evening.

"The Senate will have to decide whether to back the measure — or trigger a spending showdown with President Donald Trump and risk a potential shutdown," the article states.

Recently, US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of a government shutdown. He stated that if it happens, Democrats would be to blame for halting the government’s operations.

"The Democrats want that. They want to destroy the country. So, I can’t tell you, but it could happen. It shouldn’t have happened, and it probably won’t," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
