Trump does not rule out government shutdown in US and already identified culprits

US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of a government shutdown in the country. He emphasized that the blame for this would lie with the congressional members of the Democratic Party, according to CNN.
"The Democrats want that. They want to destroy the country. So, I can’t tell you, but it could happen. It shouldn’t have happened, and it probably won’t," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
The White House leader also expressed confidence in the passage of the bill introduced in Congress regarding the temporary suspension of government funding.
"I think the CR is going to get passed. We’ll see. But it could happen, you never know," said Trump.
Risk of a government shutdown in the US
A shutdown refers to a situation where parts of US government structures are forced to cease operations due to the failure to approve funding for the upcoming fiscal year.
The last deadline for funding was December 20, 2024.
In December, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson introduced a bill in Congress for a temporary budget extension until March 2025.
However, lawmakers were unable to pass the document due to the influence of Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Later, the bill was eventually passed.
It is expected that lawmakers will vote on the indefinite resolution, which has been approved by Trump, on Tuesday, March 11, as government funding will run out by the end of the week.
Approval of the bill will secure government funding until September 30 and is expected to buy time for Trump and Republican Party leaders to push through key points of the presidential agenda in Congress this summer.
