On the evening of April 20, a bag belonging to US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was stolen at a restaurant in downtown Washington, according to CNN.

According to a CNN law enforcement source, the Secret Service, responsible for Kristi Noem’s protection, reviewed security footage from the restaurant and identified a masked man stealing her bag and exiting the venue.

The suspect reportedly took Noem’s driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, Department of Homeland Security access pass, makeup bag, blank checks, and around $3,000 in cash.

During an Easter event at the White House, Noem confirmed to reporters that her bag had indeed been stolen and said the investigation is still ongoing.

In November 2024, before his inauguration, US President Donald Trump appointed South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the new Homeland Security Secretary.

According to Trump, Noem was “very strong on border security.”
