The US Department of the Treasury has extended until April 24, 2027, the general licenses that allow transactions with foreign gas stations owned by Russia's Lukoil and a number of its subsidiaries in Bulgaria, according to the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

The authorization covers transactions with Lukoil's network of gas stations outside Russia, as well as with the company's Bulgarian entities.

These include Lukoil Neftochim Burgas, Lukoil Bulgaria, Lukoil Aviation Bulgaria, and Lukoil Bulgaria Bunker.

The previous license, which allowed transactions with the company's overseas gas stations, was valid until October 29, 2026.

US sanctions against Lukoil

The US imposed sanctions against Lukoil on October 22, 2025. Following this, the Russian company put its overseas business up for sale.

To facilitate the transaction, the Office of Foreign Assets Control issued a separate license, the validity of which was subsequently extended multiple times.

In April 2026, US authorities had already extended the sanctions exemptions for Lukoil.

The last time, the permit was valid until October 22, 2026.
