On October 18, millions of people across America are expected to take part in “No Kings” protests against Donald Trump’s policies and the prolonged government shutdown, according to Axios.
More than 2,500 protests are scheduled across 1,700 US cities, with organizers expecting millions of Americans to participate.
The goal is to show that America belongs not to any single leader or power structure, but to the people.
Among the participants are the American Civil Liberties Union, MoveOn, Human Rights Campaign, labor unions, and civic movements, coming together at this scale for the first time.
Republican leaders have already called the protests an anti-American rally and accused Democrats of dragging out the government reopening for political leverage. There have even been calls to involve the National Guard, and the White House stated it will not tolerate disorder.
At the same time, the organizers say the “No Kings” movement arose in response to the prolonged government shutdown and Donald Trump’s administration’s actions against cities with Democratic leadership.
Meanwhile, a $1 million media campaign organized by the nonprofit Home of the Brave is gaining momentum; it positions itself as the voice of those affected by Trump’s policies.
The “No Kings” protests are part of a series of mass anti-government demonstrations in 2025, already being called a new wave of resistance.
Organizers declare: “We are a nation of equals, and our country will not be ruled by fear or force.”
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Argentina regarding funding. He warned that US aid to Argentina could be cut if libertarian party candidate Javier Milei loses the elections.
