Last night, July 29, an alleged incident of shooting down an unknown drone over Minsk was recorded. Authorities said this was the first such case in the Belarusian capital, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense reports.

In particular, the Belarusian Ministry claims that electronic warfare systems eliminated the drone in the airspace over Minsk. They say the drone's destruction caused no casualties.

According to their data, the drone fell around 2:33 a.m. local time near a residential building.

Following the incident, the Belarusian side stated that it is "taking measures to strengthen control over the airspace."

Drones in Belarus

Russian Shahed drones have repeatedly entered Belarusian territory.

On the night of October 3, Russian attack drones may have entered Belarusian airspace while a helicopter with the self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, on board was in the air.

The next day, a Shahed UAV exploded in the Belarusian settlement of Kalinkovichi. This caused a power outage in the area.

Following this, Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree allowing the shooting down of Russian Shahed drones that enter the country's territory.
