The United States has, for the first time, approved a text in which Washington recognizes itself not as a neutral mediator in the war in Ukraine, but as a partner of Kyiv, according to a statement by French President Emmanuel Macron during a briefing.

According to Macron, this concerns four key areas in which the United States now officially stands together with European partners and Ukraine.

"Regarding Ukraine, the United States has, for the first time, approved a text stating that it is no longer a neutral mediator, but stands with us on the issue of supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity, providing military assistance, energy support, and sanctions against Russia," the French president said.

Macron had previously defined Europe’s role in negotiations with Russia, stressing that the EU cannot be a neutral mediator and must participate as a party supporting Ukraine.

He also mentioned that Trump agreed with the assessment that the Kremlin is not showing any serious desire to engage in substantive negotiations to end the war.
