Unknown drones circled over one of Belgium's military bases, with the incident recurring twice. Police and military intelligence have launched an investigation, Belga reports.
"Our guard post in Marche-en-Famenne noticed multiple drones over crucial parts of the headquarters of our army brigade on Saturday evening for an extended period," said Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken.
He later added that several drones were spotted again over the military base the following night.
According to the Minister, appropriate procedures were followed, and the police and intelligence, and security services are investigating.
He described the incident as an obviously planned operation against the heart of their army and noted that the drones were likely searching for information about critical infrastructure on military territory. It is not yet known where these devices came from.
Franken also promised to initiate the purchase of drone detection systems and countermeasures at the government level as soon as possible.

In Belgium, defense company Thales Belgium reported unknown drones over a factory that manufactures 70-millimeter caliber missiles.
And recently in Estonia, allies detected two aircraft, one of which was shot down with an anti-drone gun.
