Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha shared on his social media platform X that at Ukraine's initiative, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting today, January 13, to address Russia's crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians. The meeting will be held under the Arria-formula.

"Upon Ukraine’s initiative, UNSC will hold an Arria-formula meeting today on Russian crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians," Sybiha wrote.

He emphasized that Ukraine will use every international platform to draw attention to Ukrainians held in Russian captivity, defend their rights, and demand their release.

Execution of Ukrainian soldiers

It is worth recalling that on January 6, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that Russian soldiers executed Ukrainian servicemen in the Donetsk region. The incident occurred near the settlement of Neskuchne in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region.

One of the most significant mass executions was the killing of 16 Ukrainian soldiers in the Pokrovsk direction. Law enforcement authorities have already identified the unit of the occupying forces that could have carried out the execution.

Additionally, according to former Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, up to 90% of Ukrainian prisoners in Russia suffer from various forms of torture.
