Today’s attack by Russian forces on vehicles of the UN humanitarian mission in the Kherson region is completely unacceptable, states the Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), Cindy McCain, on Twitter (X).

"Totally unacceptable. A targeted drone strike hit two WFP trucks in Ukraine," McCain said.

She added that no staff members were harmed during the attack, but the trucks and the vital aid they were carrying were destroyed.

"Humanitarian workers, vehicles and cargo are not a target. Anytime, anywhere," McCain emphasized.

Russian strike on UN humanitarian convoy in Kherson region

Earlier today, October 14, the Russian army struck a UN humanitarian mission in the Kherson region.

According to the Regional Military Administration (OVA), the enemy targeted four white vehicles with proper markings; there was no military equipment in them. The vehicles were delivering aid to civilians.

One vehicle was completely destroyed, another was seriously damaged, while two managed to escape the strike. Preliminary reports indicate that no one was injured.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, responded to the Russian attack on the UN humanitarian convoy in the Kherson region, stating that two trucks carrying food were damaged as a result of a deliberate drone strike.
