UN forecast: By 2100, Ukraine's population will decline to 15.3 million people
Ukraine's population will be declining by 2100. This is the conclusion of the UN's 2024 Revision of World Population Prospects.
According to their data, at the beginning of this year, there were about 37 million people in Ukraine. But by 2100, the country's population will be reduced to 15.3 million people.
The UN also predicts that in 2084 there will be a maximum level of humanity in this century, namely 10.3 billion people. But by 2100, the number of people will decrease slightly to 10.2 billion.
At the same time, according to the report, the average life expectancy is expected to gradually increase and reach 81.7 years by the end of the 21st century. Men will live just under 80 years on average, and women will live almost 84 years.
According to Ella Libanova, Director of the Ptukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies, less than half of those who fled the war will return to Ukraine.
