Chicken and mushroom pie is a simple dish that you can prepare for both everyday lunch and a festive dinner. The recipe uses readily available dough and a classic combination of tender meat and aromatic mushrooms, according to Ukrainian food blogger Alex Mil.

Chicken and mushroom pie

You will need:

  • Puff yeast dough – 400 g
  • Chicken fillet – 300 g
  • Mushrooms – 150 g
  • Onion – 120 g
  • mozzarella – 40 g
  • Cream cheese – 200 g
  • Egg – 1
  • Salt, pepper, paprika, sesame seeds
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

Heat some oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion. Add the diced chicken, season with salt, pepper, and paprika, and cook for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then add the sliced mushrooms and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring until everything is cooked through.

Once done, stir in the cream cheese and remove the pan from the heat. Score the puff pastry diagonally, place the filling in the center, sprinkle a little mozzarella on top, and fold the edges over the filling. Brush the pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake in the oven at 200°C (about 390°F) for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown on top.
