Ukrainian troops down Russian Ka-52 in Bakhmut sector
Ukrainian defenders destroyed a Russian Ka-52 helicopter in the Bakhmut sector on the morning of August 17, according to the Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.
"Minus one more Russian Ka-52 helicopter on the Bakhmut direction this morning," he wrote.
Oleshchuk also thanked the Anti-Aircraft Missile Forces unit for their successful combat operations.
The Ka-52 helicopter is designed for reconnaissance, target designation, and coordinating actions of a group of combat helicopters. It can engage armored and non-armored vehicles, enemy personnel, and aerial targets on the battlefield.
Ukrainian troops last downed a helicopter of this type on the Bakhmut direction on August 14.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian forces have successfully shot down 314 enemy helicopters and 315 aircraft.
