Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh secured victory in the final of the 2023 Diamond League in the high jump event with a season's best record, according to the official competition website.

Three Ukrainian athletes, namely Iryna Herashchenko, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, and Yuliia Levchenko, qualified for the final of the main commercial athletics competition in the high jump event. Mahuchikh cleared a height of 2.03 meters, setting a season's best record.

"This became her personal best and the best result in the world this season! She conquered this height, setting a personal record, and outperformed Olympic silver medalist Nicola McDermott from Australia, who did it on her third attempt, while the Ukrainian did it on her second, which determined the fate of the first place!" stated the NOC of Ukraine.

It's noted that the 21-year-old athlete from Dnipro has become the winner of the Diamond League final for the second year in a row. Last year, she triumphed in Zurich.

Ukraine in the Diamond League

Ukrainian athletes secured a total of 15 medals of various kinds in the Diamond League. Among the five gold medals, three were won by Mahuchikh in the stages held in Rabat, Székesfehérvár, and Brussels.

Unfortunately, Ukrainian long jumper Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk had to skip the final events of the 2023 Diamond League season due to health issues.
