Ukrainian tennis player Yastremska wins first WTA tournament in four years
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska won her first tournament in four years. In Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Poland, she defeated Belgian player Greet Minnen in the final match, according to the tournament results.
Yastremska navigated through the Kozerki Open tournament with only one lost set in four matches. She defeated Turkey's top player Zeinep Sonmez, Colombian Emilian Arango, and Uzbekistan's highest-ranked player Nigina Abduragimova with identical scores of 2-0.
Dayana was vying for her first title in Poland since 2019 when she triumphed in clay-court competitions in Strasbourg, France. She had already faced Minnen earlier this year, defeating her in the qualifying final of Roland Garros 2023.
In the WTA (Women's Tennis Association) final, she secured a come-from-behind victory against Belgian Greet Minnen (2-6, 6-1, 6-3).
This marks Yastremska's first trophy in the last four years. It's her fourth victory in a WTA tournament.
Previously, Svitolina moved up one position in the WTA rankings earlier.
