Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina makes headlines again, up for prestigious award

Ukraine's top tennis player, Elina Svitolina, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Heart Award following the final stage of the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup. Voting for the winner is now open on the tournament's official website, according to the Billie Jean King Cup press service.
Why Svitolina is nominated
The Heart Award is presented to players who show exceptional courage and dedication while representing their country in the Billie Jean King Cup. The prize includes a $10,000 donation to a charity of the winner's choice.
Svitolina impressed with her performance in the September finals. She defeated Spain's Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals and, after a hard-fought battle, lost to Italy's Jasmine Paolini in the semifinals.
Paolini is now one of Svitolina's main rivals for this year's award.
Other nominees
Alongside Elina Svitolina, the nominees include:
• Jasmine Paolini (Italy) helped Italy win the Billie Jean King Cup for the second year in a row
• Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) pulled off an upset by defeating world No. 18 Emma Navarro in the final
• Jessica Pegula (USA) is the American team's leader, who secured crucial points in the semifinals
How to support Svitolina
Fans can vote for Elina Svitolina until Friday, October 24, on the official website billiejeankingcup.com. Results will be announced shortly after voting closes.
Svitolina already won the Heart Award earlier this year, in April, for her performance in the Billie Jean King Cup playoffs.
As a reminder, Ukraine's team lost to Italy 1-2 in the tournament semifinals.
