Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Security Service of Ukraine's Alpha special forces have destroyed over 500 Russian air defense systems, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) press center.

Among the targets destroyed were key components of what Russia calls its most advanced air defense systems:

  • Long- and medium-range surface-to-air missile systems: S-400 and S-300;
  • Anti-aircraft missile and gun systems: Pantsir-S1;
  • Surface-to-air missile systems: Buk-M2 / Buk-M3, Tor-M2, Osa, and Strela-10;
  • Radar stations, command posts, and detection systems, without which air defense becomes blind and uncoordinated.

“This work has undeniable value: it has created corridors through Russia’s multilayered air defense system, allowing Ukrainian long-range drones to strike deep into enemy territory - hitting bases, warehouses, airfields, and other military targets,” noted SBU.

Successful Security Service of Ukraine operations

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, the SBU has released new details of a unique special operation in the port of Novorossiysk, during which a Russian submarine was destroyed.

It was revealed that a key stage of the operation involved taking out a reconnaissance maritime aircraft, the Il-38N, which could have disrupted the attack.

The Security Service of Ukraine emphasized that it will continue to target legitimate enemy military objectives and strike where the adversary least expects it.

SBU drones also attacked the Russian military airfield at Belbek in temporarily occupied Crimea, destroying two Su-27 fighter jets.

Earlier, on December 18, SBU drones struck the same airfield, destroying Russian equipment worth hundreds of millions of dollars: two Nebo-SVU radar systems, a 92N6 radar from the S-400 Triumph system, a Pantsir-S2 air defense system, and a fully armed MiG-31 fighter jet.
