Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will meet with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday, January 24. The meeting will take place in Uzhhorod, according to Denník N.

Fico announced the meeting during a speech about his work program for the next week.

According to him, he will come to Ukraine with humanitarian aid and declare that Slovakia will not help Ukraine militarily.

Fico claims that the meeting "will be interesting." He said that the Ukrainian side refused to hold a joint press conference.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced a meeting with Fico. According to him, on the eve of the EU summit, the parties will discuss possible obstacles to the allocation of 50 billion euros to Ukraine by the European Union.

Background

Earlier, the European Commission proposed to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine for 2024-2027. EU leaders considered this initiative at a summit on December 14-15. But Hungary vetoed the decision.

The issue of assistance to Ukraine will be discussed at the EU summit on February 1. But Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban says he will block the issue.

Recently, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico supported Hungary's veto.
