Ukrainian National Guard raises national flag behind Russian lines in Donetsk region
Fighters of the Chervona Kalyna Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine secured the Ukrainian flag on a tower located behind enemy lines in the Donetsk region overnight, the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine reports.
"The Ukrainian flag was secured on a tower under enemy control. By morning, when the sky, weary from constant explosions and smoke, awoke, our blue and yellow flag fluttered above the land - a symbol of unyielding will and resistance!" the National Guard of Ukraine stated.
Furthermore, the Operational-Strategic Group of Forces Khortytsia highlighted that this act of Ukrainian soldiers demonstrates to the enemy that their presence on Ukrainian soil is only temporary.
Frontline situation
Over the last day, on January 29, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported 158 combat clashes on the frontline. Recent months have seen the fiercest fighting in the Pokrovsk direction, where over half of the daily battles are concentrated.
The National Guard of Ukraine also noted increased enemy attacks in the Kramatorsk direction. The Russian forces are actively deploying infantry units near Chasiv Yar.
