The Ukrainian government delegation arrived at the border today but was ignored by colleagues from Poland, according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"For the past six months, we have been living under the conditions of a permanent blockade of the Ukrainian border by Poland. A blockade that has hit our economy and our ability to better defend ourselves," the message says.

According to him, a month ago in Kyiv, Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke about the fact that Poland is the most reliable and important ally of Ukraine in this deadly battle with evil.

"A month ago, we agreed that blocking the border harms our countries and that it is important to prevent similar incidents.
A month has passed, and we have returned to this point again. Only now we see open provocations," Shmyhal added.

Polish delegation did not come to border

The Prime Minister of Ukraine added that he understands the difficulties faced by the Polish government. The Ukrainian side is ready to help in solving this situation, ready to cooperate.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered the leadership of Poland a platform to negotiate and find a compromise. Here, on the border, as equal partners and allies. Therefore, government representatives arrived at the border, namely:

  • Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna;

  • Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov; Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko;

  • Mykola Solskyi, Minister of Agro-Industrial Complex;

  • Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebyinis;

  • Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka;

  • Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhii Derkach;

  • head of the State Border Service, General Serhii Deineko;

  • Serhiy Zvyagintsev, head of the State Customs Service.

"But, unfortunately, such a meeting with Polish government officials did not take place today," the head of the Ukrainian government wrote.

Blockade of border by Poland

Polish farmers recently resumed mass protests on the Ukrainian border. They block the passage of trucks through checkpoints, which directly affects Ukrainian exports.

On February 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Polish President Andrzej Duda to organize a meeting of officials at the border to find a way to solve such a problem.
