Ukrainian military: Stabilization efforts underway in Makarivka, Donetsk region, amid difficult conditions
Ukrainian fighters are conducting a stabilization operation near Makarivka in the Donetsk region to prevent semi-encirclement by Russian forces, according to the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, reports Radio Svoboda.
"Currently, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting stabilization measures, trying to restore our positions, and preventing our forces from being encircled. Active defense is underway, and a defensive operation is in progress. The consequences and results of this operation we will know later," Voloshyn said.
Ukrainian forces are conducting this stabilization operation to prevent the semi-encirclement of their troops. The spokesperson summarizes that while the situation is quite difficult, it is not hopeless.
Situation near Makarivka
Earlier this week, Ukrainian media reported that the settlement of Makarivka, located south of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region, was completely surrounded. It was based on an analytical map from the Deep State project. These reports were later refuted by the command of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops.
Russian army recently attacked several fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, making their continued defense impossible.
