Ukrainian military provides update on situation at aggregate plant in Vovchansk
After the liberation of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk, the situation remains extremely tense due to constant attempts of Russian troops to attack the facility, according to Vitalii Sarantsev, spokesperson for the Kharkiv operational and tactical group.
The plant is the main target of the enemy, and Russian troops are using all available weapons, including heavy flamethrower systems and guided aerial bombs.
“The enemy does not have any tactical or strategic goal. But at the same time, it was a very powerful blow on their image, the loss of this facility,” Sarantsev said.
He noted that the enemy did not gain any tactical or strategic advantages from the seizure of the plant.
“The enemy is using a heavy flamethrower system and dropping GABs. In other words, they are following their standard practice of destroying what they don't get,” he added.
Liberation of the aggregate plant
The Ukrainian military ousted Russian forces from an aggregate plant in Vovchansk, located in the northern part of the Kharkiv region. The operation was carried out by the Defense Intelligence with the participation of fighters from the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK).
The RDK representative said that this was the first such operation during a full-scale war, as it was the first time Ukrainian troops had liberated such a large fortified area.
The DIU also reported that during the fighting in Vovchansk, the defenders captured about 20 Russian soldiers. According to the intelligence, the aggregate plant was heavily damaged, but it is possible to maintain defense at this facility.
