The crew of the Spalah unit of the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Brigade shot down a Russian Geran-5 drone-missile for the second time on October 8 in Ukraine's Chernihiv region, according to the Serhiy Prytula Foundation's press service.

Before being shot down, the Russian target was flying at a speed of around 430 km/h at an altitude of 780 meters.

"Jet-powered interceptors are still new to us, so we are continuing to study them, share feedback with the manufacturer, and learn how they perform in different situations and conditions. We have limited time to react, so it is important to keep improving our interception success rate against these targets," the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Brigade said.

In late September, the Yastrub crew of the 1020th Brigade shot down a Geran-5 attack drone for the first time in the Chernihiv region. The target was flying at around 425 km/h at an altitude of more than 3 kilometers.

The military emphasizes that there is still no comprehensive countermeasure against jet-powered Shahed drones, though every successful interception brings Ukraine closer to a solution. Crews are gaining experience, while manufacturers are receiving real combat data to improve their interceptors. The scale of the threat remains significant: Russia launched 3,177 jet-powered drones at Ukraine in September alone.
