Ukrainian intelligence reports on drones used to attack Russia
Long-range drones are trained in several stages. Today, Ukrainian intelligence is capable of hitting targets at a distance of 2,000 kilometers, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
As the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine told the Donbas Realities media, the stages of preparation for long-range drones include:
- target analysis and approach to them;
- analysis of Russian air defense forces and electronic warfare.
Over the past year, the use of long-range drones has become increasingly difficult, but still possible.
In general, the use of strike drones has undergone major changes since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“We are the group that was the first to launch almost all long-range drones and those that came before them. We can see the dynamics - now we can hit targets at a distance of 2,000 kilometers,” says an unnamed commander of the long-range UAV operators group of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
Strikes on Russian territory
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the DIU has been actively conducting operations on the territory of Russia aimed at weakening its military and political potential. These actions are part of a hybrid warfare that includes sabotage, cyberattacks, the use of drones, and strikes on strategic targets such as logistics hubs, fuel depots, railroad infrastructure, and air bases. The operations are intended not only to reduce the aggressor's resource capabilities but also to undermine its morale and ability to wage war.
Some of these operations have received wide publicity. You can read more about them in RBC-Ukraine's article.
