Ukrainian intelligence cyber specialists have attacked the infrastructure of Gazprom’s main contractor, Gazstroyprom, which plays a role in supporting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, according to RBC-Ukraine's source.

According to sources, the cyberattack also targeted 22 other companies involved in the construction and maintenance of Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure.

Among the affected companies are Gazprom-Automation, GSP-Complectation, Infoservice Region, Vector Vostok, SSK Gazregion, GSP-Center, GSP-Service, GSP-Technologies, GSP-Mechanization, GSP-Oil and Gas Processing, GSP-Processing, GSP-Fuels and Lubricants, GSP-1, GSP-2, GSP-4, GSP-5, GSP-6, GSP-7, Sphere Group, GSP-Investments, Gazstroyprom-Auto Transport Enterprise, and GSP-Finance.

As a result of the operation:

  • More than 120 physical hypervisor servers were disabled.
  • File storage containing 2 petabytes (2,000 terabytes) of documentation was destroyed.
  • Over 10,000 employee computers at critical Russian enterprises were rendered inoperable.

All systems and services have been shut down, and the damages inflicted on companies fueling Russia’s war against Ukraine are estimated to be between tens and hundreds of millions of dollars.

Previous cyberattacks by Ukrainian intelligence

In the summer of 2023, The Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine launched a massive cyberattack on Russia’s financial sector, targeting Russian banks and government digital resources.

January 4, 2024, on Kyrylo Budanov’s birthday, Ukrainian cyber forces attacked RegionTransService, a company supporting Russia’s railway network.

January 30, 2024, Ukrainian cyber specialists targeted Gazprom and Gazprom Neft’s infrastructure, dedicating the operation to the Heroes of Kruty.
