Ukrainian forces in the Sumy region detected and eliminated a unit of Russian drone operators. The Russians were hiding in bushes, directing strikes on infantry positions. Their retaliation came swiftly, informs the Ukrainian Land Forces.

The unit of Russian operators was found by Ukrainian soldiers of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment. The Russians were adjusting artillery fire on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions and infantry. After the operators were located, Ukrainian strikes quickly stopped their activity.

"Several precise hits — and the unit was destroyed," the statement said.

Russians suffer heavy losses

Recently, a successful hunt for Russian drone pilots took place in the Kherson region. In one temporarily occupied district, Ukrainian forces destroyed a vehicle carrying drone operators from the Bars-Sarmat group. This unit is controlled by Dmitry Rogozin, a former director general of Russia's main space corporation, Roscosmos.

The Ukrainian army neutralized over 230,000 Russian troops in the first half of 2025. This figure includes both killed and wounded soldiers.

Total Russian losses in 2025 have surpassed one million personnel. By early July, the enemy had lost 1.02 million soldiers and officers killed, wounded, captured, or missing.
