Ukrainian forces strengthen defense in border areas of Kharkiv region, General Staff
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are equipping the occupied borders and strengthening defense in the border areas of the Kharkiv region, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"In the Kharkiv sector, Russian attack was repelled near the village of Starytsia. The Russian invaders used aviation to attack the areas of Harbuzivka and Bilyi Kolodyazh," the report says.
Hottest frontline areas
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia is currently most active in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors. The Russian occupants have not conducted any attacks in the Lyman, Toretsk, Huliaipole, and Orikhiv sectors since the beginning of the day.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 14 attacks. The situation was the hottest near Novooleksandrivka, the statement says.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Russian occupants tried to break through the defense 14 times, in particular in the areas of Paraskoviivka, Heorhiivka, Krasnohorivka, and Vodiane. "Near the latter, Russia acted with the support of attack aircraft. The situation is under control," the General Staff reports.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russia made five attempts to improve the tactical situation near Vilshany, Ivanivka, Berestove, and Miasozharivka. Russia received a tough rebuff, the situation was under control.
Five Russian attacks were also repelled in the Siversk sector. In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russian occupants launched an air strike near Chasiv Yar.
In addition, in the Vremivsk sector, Russia has twice tried to improve the tactical situation in the area of Staromaiorsk. They were unsuccessful, but the information is being clarified.
In the Prydniprovsk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled five Russian attacks near Krynky. Russian occupants fired from multiple rocket launchers in the same area and near Tiahynyky. No losses of positions were reported.
"Ukrainian defenders are repelling the Russian invaders, keeping the enemy under fire control and doing everything possible to disrupt Russia's criminal plans," the General Staff adds.
Russian offensive in Kharkiv region
On May 10, Russian troops launched an offensive in the northern districts of Kharkiv region. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Russians crossed the border because they lacked air defense. According to him, no one has reached the concrete defense line and the Ukrainian Defense Forces have stabilized the situation.
