The Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled another large-scale assault by Russian troops in the Orikhiv direction. The enemy suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment, according to the Southern Defense Forces.
According to the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade Velykyi Luh, on October 20, around 2:00 p.m., Russian forces attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses in the Orikhiv direction.
The attack focused on two main directions: the villages of Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka. The assault involved units from the 71st and 503rd Russian motorized rifle regiments - up to two companies with armored vehicles.
Aerial reconnaissance recorded 11 armored combat vehicles, one tank, 10 motorcycles, and up to 120 enemy infantry. Ukrainian troops met the attackers with concentrated drone, artillery, and infantry fire, destroying a significant portion of the Russian equipment.
In the Novoandriivka direction, six armored vehicles and eight motorcycles were destroyed, while five armored vehicles and one tank were damaged. Total enemy equipment losses along the junction of the 65th and 118th brigades exceeded 25 units, largely due to the effective work of attack drone pilots.
Despite the massive offensive, no Ukrainian positions were lost, and there were no casualties among Ukrainian defenders. The brigade reported that operations to eliminate the remaining enemy forces in that direction are ongoing.
In the Dobropillia direction, National Guard units inflicted devastating losses on the Russian army, destroying tanks, armored vehicles, and cars, while enemy infantry suffered heavy casualties.
The material by RBC-Ukraine states that Russian troops have been steadily advancing along the front due to a change in tactics, including infiltration and stealth maneuvers.
