Ukrainian Forces destroy $4 mln worth of Russian fuel tanks
Ukrainian defenders successfully destroyed 40 fuel tanks belonging to Russia, valued at $4 million, according to RBC-Ukraine's sources.
As per the sources, on December 14, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), in collaboration with the Tavria Operational Strategic Group, the Main Intelligence Directorate (DIU), Special Operations Forces (SOF), and the Drone Force conducted a unique multi-stage special operation. The goal was to cut off logistical supply routes delivering fuel from Crimea to the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Initially, the 13th Main Directorate of the SSU’s Department of Military Counterintelligence organized sabotage by blowing up the railway tracks while a train carrying fuel tanks was en route near the village of Oleksiivka in the Bilmak district.
When the train stopped, soldiers from the 14th Drone Forces Regiment began striking with attack drones, causing several tanks to catch fire. Then, HIMARS came into play. Utilizing aerial reconnaissance from DIU and in coordination with the Tavria Group, missiles hit the locomotive and the end cars of the train to prevent the enemy from separating the tanks and salvaging part of the fuel.
Finally, DIU operatives finished off the train with additional drone strikes.
As a result of the operation, the locomotive and 40 tank cars were destroyed, and an important railway line, which supplied Russian troops, was disabled for an extended period.
Other special operations by Ukrainian Forces
Earlier, drones operated by the Ministry of Defense's DIU struck a fuel and energy facility in the Bryansk region of Russia. The "Bryanskaya Oil Depot," which supplies fuel to the Russian army, was hit.
Additionally, on the night of December 14, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Stalnoi Kon line production dispatching station in Russia’s Oryol region, resulting in a massive fire.
