Ukraine’s Defense Forces have denied the reports spread the previous day about the alleged presence of Russian troops in Myrnohrad, Donetsk region, according to the operational-strategic group East.

According to the press service, the situation in the city and its surroundings is fully under Ukrainian control. No fighting is taking place within the settlement.

“The enemy is not in Myrnohrad. The situation in the city and its surroundings is fully controlled by the Defense Forces of Ukraine,” the military stated.

During the briefing, the command explained that the spokesperson for the Tavria Group of Forces had previously misspoken during a live broadcast of the National Telethon, referring to the situation in Pokrovsk rather than in Myrnohrad.

What preceded it

The day before, the spokesperson of the operational-strategic group East, Hryhorii Shapoval, said on air that Russian forces had managed to break through to the outskirts of the city of Myrnohrad in the Pokrovsk direction.

According to him, heavy street fighting was taking place there.

“At the moment, unfortunately, the enemy has reached the outskirts of Myrnohrad and is using not only artillery and drone systems, but also infantry and technical equipment,” the serviceman said.

Situation in the Pokrovsk direction

Ukrainian defenders report that the situation in the Pokrovsk agglomeration area remains tense. Russian forces are attempting to encircle the city, conducting active assault operations, using drones and guided aerial bombs in an effort to disrupt the Defense Forces’ logistics.

The most difficult situation is observed on the southern approaches to Pokrovsk. The occupiers are trying to turn the settlement of Zvirove into a so-called “gray zone,” where neither side has full control.

In Pokrovsk itself, gunfights continue, and drone units are active. Ukrainian troops are conducting counter-sabotage measures to stop enemy attempts to advance deeper into the urban area.

The Air Assault Forces clarified that urban battles continue, and that the enemy has partially entered the city due to numerical superiority in manpower and equipment. However, Ukrainian soldiers emphasize that Russians do not fully control any district of Pokrovsk.
