On the night of February 17, drones belonging to the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and Special Operations Forces (SSO) attacked two critical enterprises in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, according to RBC-Ukraine's source at the Security Service of Ukraine.

The strikes targeted:

  • Ilsky Oil Refinery (NPP)
  • Kropotkinskaya Oil Pumping Station

Ilsky oil refinery

At least 20 explosions were heard in the area of the Ilsky oil refinery. A fire broke out at the facility, which was later confirmed by local authorities.

The refinery consists of six technological units for oil processing, with a total capacity of 6.6 million tons per year.

This is not the first attack on this refinery. In February 2024, SSU drones had already struck the facility, damaging a primary oil processing unit worth $50 million.

Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station

The Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station is the largest Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) station on Russian territory.

The attack disabled the station. Oil transportation is now being rerouted to bypass the facility.

Attacks on enemy oil refineries

During the full-scale war, Ukraine has regularly targeted Russian oil refineries. The goal of these attacks is to disrupt logistics and weaken the enemy’s military economy.

Today, it was confirmed that the largest oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Kropotkinskaya, was taken out of operation due to a drone strike.

Meanwhile, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, explained the strategic role of the Ilsky oil refinery for the enemy.
