SBU drones attacked the Russian Khanskaya military airfield in the Republic of Adygea, hitting two fighter jets and an ammunition depot, according to the Security Service of Ukraine.

On the night into Wednesday, drones operated by the SBU’s Special Operations Center Alpha struck the Russian airbase, located approximately 500 km from the front line.

According to the security service, the attack hit a Su-35 multirole fighter jet, with an estimated export value of $100 million, a Su-34 fighter-bomber, with an estimated export value of up to $50 million, and a depot containing aircraft weapons and ammunition.

Both combat aircraft are the main carriers of guided aerial bombs, which the Russian army uses daily to strike Ukrainian frontline positions and cities near the front.

The Security Service of Ukraine said it is systematically destroying Russian military infrastructure and aircraft on Russian territory in an effort to reduce the enemy’s combat capabilities.

The SBU stressed that every strike on civilian facilities and critical infrastructure in Ukraine would receive a reciprocal response.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin wants to force Ukrainians to leave Kyiv and had ordered an increase in attacks on the city.
