Ukrainian developments to be integrated with NASAMS air defense system: What is known

Ukroboronprom (a strategic manufacturer of weapons and military hardware in Ukraine - ed.) and the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) have agreed to integrate domestic air defense systems into the NASAMS infrastructure, according to the Telegram channel of Ukroboronprom.
According to Ukroboronprom, the integration involves existing and prospective domestic short- and medium-range air defense systems.
It is also planned that Ukrainian developments will operate together with Norwegian command and control modules.
"Together with the Norwegian weapons manufacturers, we will take a new step toward creating a strong air shield that will reliably protect strategic facilities and civilian infrastructure. I am confident that cooperation with KDA will become yet another example of a fruitful international partnership," said Oleh Hulyak, CEO of Ukroboronprom.
NASAMS
NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System) is a mobile surface-to-air missile system developed through cooperation between the Norwegian defense company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and the American corporation Raytheon.
The first generation appeared in 1998, and the latest version (NASAMS III) was introduced in 2019.
The system is capable of engaging aircraft, helicopters, as well as cruise missiles, including Iskander and Tochka-U.
Recently, KDA opened an office in Ukraine.
"We are preparing new solutions based on NASAMS to strengthen the protection of the population and critical infrastructure," said Rustem Umerov, head of the Ministry of Defense.
