Fighters from Ukraine's 23rd Khortytsia Brigade of the National Guard have struck 10,000 Russian drones in the Zaporizhzhia region since the beginning of 2026, according to the brigade's Facebook page.
On average, the unit's service members have destroyed around 33 enemy drones every day.
These include attack and reconnaissance drones, as well as systems used by Russian forces to adjust artillery fire and target Ukrainian positions and infrastructure.
The targets hit include:
-
7,955 Molniya-type UAVs;
-
1,428 FPV drones;
-
289 Shahed/Gerbera-type UAVs;
-
187 reconnaissance and multipurpose UAVs;
-
148 Lancet loitering munitions.
"Modern warfare has long moved beyond the line of contact. Today, the confrontation is taking place both on the ground and in the air. This is a real war of technology, in which interceptor drones have become one of the most effective means of countering enemy UAVs," said the brigade's commander, Colonel Ivan Bondarenko.
According to him, Ukrainian troops are destroying enemy drones using other drones, intercepting targets before they reach the city.
"Every aerial target destroyed means a threat averted from the city, human lives saved, and the ability to keep the city running," Bondarenko stressed.
