Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko has announced his retirement from professional sports. In his official statement on Facebook, he addressed all Ukrainians, his fans, his team, and his coaches.

Vasyl Lomachenko recorded a video in which he announced the end of his boxing career. He stated that the time had come to put a full stop.

"Every boxer has a day when he hangs up his gloves. That day has come," the athlete said.

In his address, delivered in Russian, Vasyl Lomachenko first thanked his father-coach, his family, God, his team, and the United States. He also expressed gratitude to all his fans in different countries around the world.

In his statement, the boxer did not mention Ukraine, Ukrainian fans, or the war.

Vasyl Lomachenko is a Ukrainian boxer and world lightweight champion according to the IBF and IBO. He has 18 wins (12 by knockout) and three losses on his record.

He is a two-time Olympic champion (2008 and 2012), multiple-time champion of Ukraine, European champion (2008), and two-time world champion (2009, 2011).

He is the most decorated boxer in Ukraine. He has been awarded the "Order of Merit" three times and holds the WBO Super Champion belt.

The boxer was born on February 17, 1988, in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odesa region. He is now 37 years old. He began boxing in childhood, coached by his father.

He is married; his wife is a master of sports in acrobatics. They have three children.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Lomachenko has rarely spoken publicly about the war in Ukraine. He has been involved in several controversies.
