Ukrainian army restrain assaults in the south: Russians attempt breakthrough border of three regions

Fierce fighting continues in the south. The Russians are trying to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the junction of three regions but are suffering heavy losses, the spokesperson of the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, states.
In the Southern direction, Russian troops have intensified shelling and breakthrough attempts.
The most tense situation is in the Novopavlivka direction, where the enemy is trying to reach the administrative border of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Intensification of shelling
According to him, assault units from four Russian regiments have been concentrated on a relatively small section of the front.
The enemy is actively using motorcycles for maneuvers, but Ukrainian defenders are destroying them along with manpower – the losses of the occupiers amount to up to 150 people per day.
Russia has also increased drone strikes. In the past day, over 600 kamikaze drone attacks were recorded, and another 300 drones dropped munitions – over 400 drops.
According to Voloshyn, the number of such strikes has increased by 20%. This is connected with the effective fight of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as a result of which the occupiers are losing artillery and are relying more on drones and aviation.
Russian assaults
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy is trying to break through the line of defense near the settlements of Stepove, Lobkove, and Mali Shcherbaky.
The goal is to gain fire control over the logistic routes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the suburbs of Zaporizhzhia. The assaults have been ongoing for several months but remain unsuccessful.
In addition, trying to advance toward the Dnipropetrovsk region, the occupiers are trying to seize Zelene Pole, Vilne Pole, Novopil, and Novosilka.
Earlier, Voloshyn stated that the occupiers are accumulating assault groups on the left bank of the Kherson region in order to seize a bridgehead in the island zone.
