Ukrainian Armed Forces to use D-21 unmanned system at front
The Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized the use of the D-21 logistics ground robotic system in the Armed Forces. It is also Ukrainian-made, according to the Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Weapons and Military Equipment.
The D-21 unmanned complex is designed to perform logistics tasks. It can transport food, ammunition, and military equipment, and evacuate the wounded. This complex operates in two modes - manual and automatic when it moves along a given route at a certain speed.
It has a control channel resistant to electronic interference, and the pilot controls the platform from a protected location.
The D-21 is equipped with a quiet electric motor and low-pressure all-terrain tires. This gives it high cross-country ability over off-road terrain, mud, and shallow water obstacles. They can also move even after being punctured.
The uniqueness of this complex is that the D-21 can be equipped with a remote combat module with a machine gun. With such a configuration, the robot can perform fire damage or fire support tasks.
This is exactly what the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said earlier. According to him, the combat part of the robot has already been successfully tested and has received positive feedback from the military.
“The developers are planning to integrate NATO weapons into the robot and strengthen its resistance to enemy electronic warfare. The team is now working on scaling up production,” Fedorov said.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and authorized the Oncilla-Shturm armored personnel carrier. This is a domestically produced armored vehicle that performs a wide range of tasks.
