Ukrainian military units are already conducting tests of AI-powered kamikaze drones, but their implementation poses some difficulties, states Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vadym Sukharevskyi.

"Such attempts exist, the systems exist. I want to say that this is a very complex process in terms of implementation and putting into practice - the use of these drones specifically on the front lines, in combat," said Sukharevskyi.

According to him, when using drones with artificial intelligence, there are also difficulties. It is important to learn to distinguish between real images and those created by artificial intelligence.

"For example, how do we distinguish the image created by artificial intelligence from a real one? By the number of fingers. It is precisely this number of fingers in the picture that we will need to implement in real life on the battlefield," noted the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Drones for Ukraine

On December 12, 2023, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, and his Latvian counterpart Andris Sprūds discussed the creation of a drone coalition. The Ukrainian official expressed gratitude to the Latvian side for the corresponding initiative. As Sprūds mentioned in January, more than 20 countries have joined the drone coalition.

According to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, the Alliance's group of countries wants to provide Ukrainian defenders with a million drones as part of military aid. As Umerov stated on February 17, the drone coalition officially launched.

Additionally, on February 17, it became known that the UK is working to arm Ukraine with thousands of new AI-powered drones.
