The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said that Ukrainian troops have gained a foothold on the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region, informs the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

In a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., Yermak emphasized that despite the difficult combat situation, Ukrainian forces "have gained a foothold on the left bank of the Dnipro River" and continue to counterattack in uncertain areas of the front.

Institute for the Study of War (ISW) continues to assess that since mid-October 2023, Ukrainian forces have been conducting larger-than-usual ground operations on the eastern bank of the Kherson region. It is observed that Ukrainian forces seem capable of holding and securing their current positions on the Russian-controlled side of the Dnipro. The analysts provided this information.

Geolocation footage released on November 13 shows that Ukrainian forces have recently advanced to Krynky (30 km northeast of the Kherson region and 2 km from the Dnipro River).

The situation on the left bank of the Kherson region

It should be noted that in recent weeks, there have been increasing reports of fighting and advances by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson.

As experts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) wrote in a recent report, the Russian military command will likely have difficulty deploying combat-ready reinforcements to respond to the ongoing Ukrainian operations on the left bank of the Kherson region.

According to the expert, Ukrainian soldiers on the temporarily occupied left bank of the Dnipro River are confusing the Russian invaders. In the Tavriya, Ukrainian troops have moved to the left bank in a certain number, but they are not going head-on, but along the river. In this way, they have complicated the task for the Russians, who cannot surround the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Institute for the Study of War also previously reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding their positions and expanding their presence on the left bank of the Kherson region.

It should be added that, according to British intelligence, the decisive factor in the battles for the left bank of the Kherson region will be the military's ability to use artillery intensively.
