Ukrainian Armed Forces comment on possibility of potential new Russian advance on Kharkiv
No powerful groups of Russian troops have been spotted to re-attack Kharkiv. In any case, they will not have a chance to implement their plans, according to Illia Yevlash, head of the press service of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of troops.
"The enemy will have no chance in this area. Ukrainian Defense Forces are ready for any development of events, any movement of the occupiers even along the front line is constantly monitored," Yevlash says.
He adds that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, fortifications have been installed in this area in case the Russians go on the offensive again.
"This process is ongoing. Of course, it is necessary to bring in some materials and build some checkpoints and defensive lines. Not only in this direction but also in the Lyman-Kupiansk direction, fortifications are constantly being strengthened and all necessary measures are being taken," says Yevlash.
Fighting in Kharkiv region
The UK agency The Telegraph reported that the Russians may launch a "ground offensive" in the Kharkiv region in January.
In the Kharkiv region, the Kupiansk direction remains a priority for the enemy, and the Russians are trying to continue their offensive near Synkivka and Tabaivka.
