Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief: 'Main task is to hold positions and regain lost ground'
While in the Donbas, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi names the main tasks facing the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
"My main task is to effectively use the combat capabilities of the weapons and military equipment of our units to inflict maximum losses on the enemy and destroy a significant part of its artillery and armored vehicles; to hold the positions we occupy and restore the position where we retreated," he says.
General notes that to strengthen the defense on the main directions, it is necessary to correctly allocate reserves.
"When working with the brigade commanders, I pay attention to how the work at the control points is organized to engage the enemy, to the timeliness and adequacy of decisions made following the current situation, and to maintaining constant interaction between units and subunits," adds Syrskyi.
Syrskyi in Donbas
On February 29, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, went to Donbas, in particular to the Avdiivka direction, and visited military units holding defense in the Avdiivka and Kurakhove directions.
While monitoring the situation, Syrskyi identified mistakes made by local commanders that had a certain impact on the defense. To remedy the situation, he has already ordered the allocation of additional ammunition and material resources, as well as the necessary reserves.
Syrskyi also spoke about the situation at the front: the Ukrainian Armed Forces drove Russian occupiers out of the outskirts of Orlivka village, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region.
