Ukraine will receive first French Mirage fighter jets in January, media says
Ukraine will receive the first 3 Mirage 2000-5F fighters from France in January, according to Avions Legendaires.
The aircraft that Ukraine will receive were decommissioned by the French Air Force and modified to perform more complex tasks. In total, Ukraine may receive about 10 Mirage fighters.
According to Avions Legendaires, the first three aircraft will be delivered by January 20.
Some sources suggest that the Mirage is already in Ukraine, but still being used for pilot training.
Mirage 2000 for Ukraine
In early June 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to provide Ukraine with Mirage 2000 fighter jets. The media reported that Ukraine could receive a modernized version of the French aircraft.
In October, the French Foreign Minister said that Paris would hand over the first planes to Ukraine in early 2025. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy clarified that France had accelerated the process of transferring fighter jets to Ukraine.
