Ukraine urges EU to sanction suppliers of drone components to Russia, MFA states
Ukraine insists that the European Union includes companies supplying components for drones to the aggressor country in the 12th package of sanctions against Russia, according to a statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
"We consistently and firmly insist that sanctions against companies supplying parts for UAV production to Russia be included in the EU's 12th package of sanctions. This is also a way to protect Ukrainians from aerial attacks," the official emphasized.
According to him, there are already measures concerning Russia's ability to obtain engines for drones.
Kuleba mentions that he "strongly discussed" this topic today with colleagues from European Union countries.
"These sanctions must be included in the package," added the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign components in Russian drones
Ukrainian officials have repeatedly stated that drones used by occupiers to strike Ukraine contain foreign components.
This applies to both strike drones like Shahed and Lancet and reconnaissance drones like Orlan.
In particular, these drones contain components manufactured by companies in Western countries.
