Ukraine to receive first Mirage 2000 jets in early 2025, says French MFA
Ukraine will receive Mirage 2000 aircraft from France in the coming months. The first aircraft will be delivered in early 2025, says French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot at a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
According to him, France will help and support Ukraine.
“Our assistance is manifested in concrete examples. In the defense sector, we provide Ukraine with equipment and military hardware. France is also the first country to train an entire brigade, the Anna Kyivska Brigade. The first Mirage 2000 aircraft will be delivered to Ukraine early next year,” the minister said.
France will also train the pilots of these aircraft, he added.
Mirage 2000 aircraft for Ukraine
Back in June, it was reported that Ukraine's combat aircraft fleet could be replenished with not two, but three types of Western-style aircraft by the end of 2024. Apart from the F-16 fighters and ACS 890 long-range reconnaissance aircraft, French Mirage 2000-5 will be delivered.
At the moment, France plans to provide Ukraine with 20 Mirage 2000-5F fighters. Paris later adjusted the date of delivery - it will begin in the first quarter of 2025. It is possible that Ukraine may receive an upgraded version of the Mirage-2000.
