The Ukrainian army is set to receive the first batch of ammunition under the Czech initiative by the end of June, according to Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová.

"As promised, the first delivery will arrive by the end of June," the head of the defense agency said.

She assured that before being sent to Ukraine, the ammunition would be inspected by Czech experts and, if necessary, repaired. This was in response to allegations by former Czech Defense Minister Lubomír Metnar that some of the ammunition might be of poor quality.

According to the minister, the ammunition will be modified by companies before being received by Kyiv.

The head of the Czech Ministry of Defense added that there is currently a shortage of ammunition worldwide, so Czechia has to work with what is available.

"If we want to help Ukraine, we must be grateful for what we have. Fortunately, we have companies and resources. Donors - Czechia does not pay for this - will ensure that the ammunition is brought to a usable condition," said Jana Černochová.

Next week Slovenia and Ukraine will sign a security agreement.
