Ukraine to produce with two U.S. companies 155mm shells
Ukraine, along with two American companies, will produce 155mm artillery shells, according to a statement from the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kamyshin, made during a television marathon.
"We have agreements with two leading American companies for joint production of 155mm caliber ammunition in Ukraine. The implementation of these projects will take years," emphasized Kamyshin.
As the minister clarified, the production process for such projectiles takes at least two to three years.
He added that Ukraine needs technologies from Western countries to start production.
"Therefore, the sooner we start, the sooner we will have these solutions, and they will work for the Defense Forces," the official emphasized.
It's worth noting that on December 6-7, an American-Ukrainian conference is taking place in Washington, where defense production is a key topic.
Production of Western weapons in Ukraine
Recall that Ukraine is seeking to involve defense companies from Western countries in the production of its products on its territory.
In late October, it became known that Ukrainian Defense Industry and the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall had established a joint venture.
The enterprise will assist Ukraine in repairing equipment provided by Western countries and plans to manufacture tanks and armored vehicles.
Rheinmetall aims to launch the plant in Ukraine as early as 2024, as recently stated by the CEO of the conglomerate, Armin Papperger.
