Ukraine does not view the failure of the peace process as the end of the path toward ending the war with Russia - President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this while speaking with the media.

According to him, even if current diplomatic efforts fail, the state will be forced to look for new mechanisms to achieve peace.

Answering a question about a possible scenario for Ukraine in the event that a peace settlement collapses, he stressed that the situation should be perceived realistically, but without despair.

"If one or another process regarding the peaceful settlement of this war, the end of pressure on Russia, does not work out, it is like running a long distance, like a marathon. You have to pull yourself together, find another path, and once again do everything to make this war end," Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that in such a case it is necessary to find another path and once again do everything to ensure that this war ends.

US peace plan

The White House administration has prepared a draft peace agreement that was considered as a basis for ending the war. In its initial version, the document consisted of 28 points. After comments and proposals from Ukraine and European allies, the plan was revised and reduced to about 20 provisions.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine, together with EU states, has formed its own position on a peaceful settlement and will pass it to the United States in the near future. He clarified that work is simultaneously underway on three key documents — a framework agreement, a package of security guarantees, and a postwar reconstruction plan.

The Kremlin said it had not familiarized itself with the updated version of the American plan after the latest contacts between Washington and Kyiv, while stressing that many of its provisions could be unacceptable for Moscow.

It also became known that US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff plans to hold a meeting in Berlin with European leaders and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The talks are viewed as an important element of the White House’s efforts to advance a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to statements by US President Donald Trump claiming that he is allegedly the only one criticizing the American peace plan. He also said that Ukraine is not conducting direct dialogue with Russia, and that all signals from the Kremlin are currently being conveyed through the United States of America.
