The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, together with the Special Forces Operations of Armed Forces of Ukraine, hit the Russian Atlas oil depot in the Rostov region near the town of Kamensk-Shakhtynsky. This facility provided oil products to the Russian army, according to intelligence sources.

The interlocutors of the news agency noted that this facility is part of the Russian military-industrial complex and is directly involved in the supply of Russian occupation forces.

Meanwhile, according to eyewitnesses, a fire is currently ongoing at the tanks of the oil depot. The detailed results of the operation are currently being clarified.

Atlas oil depot in Russia's Rostov region

The Atlas oil refinery, a part of the Federal Agency for State Reserves in the Southern Federal District, specializes in supplying petroleum products to the Russian Armed Forces. According to Russian media reports, in August 2020, the plant hosted joint exercises of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Federal Reserve as part of the Caucasus 2020 exercise.

The demonstration exercises involved three methods of supplying petroleum products to the army: by road, rail, and pipeline.

Ukraine continues systematic attacks on Russian refineries, in particular in response to Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector.

An oil depot in the city of Proletarsk, Rostov region, has been on fire for more than ten days after a Ukrainian drone attack.

Today, an oil depot in the Kirov region of Russia came under attack by Ukrainian drones for the first time. The facility is located more than 1,000 km from the border with Ukraine. A fire broke out at the site.
