Ukraine has yet to receive information from the United States about how the Pentagon plans to allocate $400 million in military aid earmarked for Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), says Ukraine's chargé d'affaires in the United States, Denys Sienik, according to Suspilne.
Despite US Senator Chris Coons' statement that the Pentagon had spent nearly all the funds under contract, Kyiv has received no confirmation regarding the contracts signed or the areas to which the funding will be allocated.
According to Sienik, the Ukrainian side made repeated attempts to clarify the situation with US representatives in Wiesbaden and the US Department of Defense but received no response.
"We have no confirmation from the American side or from NATO — specifically, from NSATU in Wiesbaden — about where the funds are, which contracts have already been signed or will be signed, and exactly what these funds will be used for. In other words, essentially, we have no information at all about what is happening," Sienik said.
He stressed that Ukraine expects the United States to provide information about how the funds will be allocated and which contracts will be covered.
This funding could cover several critical needs of the Ukrainian military, including the procurement of ammunition, logistical support, and assistance with operating F-16 fighter jets.
"We need everything: ammunition and logistical support. This involves a number of contracts, including those related to supporting the operation of F-16 aircraft. This is a significant amount of money. We would very much like to get answers to our questions and understand when and exactly how these funds will be used. This is extremely important," Sienik said.
The US Department of Defense announced nearly $400 million in defense assistance for Ukraine just one day before the deadline. Senators were outraged by this negligence.
Meanwhile, the United States did not include missiles for Patriot air defense systems in its new military aid package for Ukraine.
The Trump administration informed members of the US Congress that it would not use all of the $400 million in aid for Ukraine immediately. The full amount will be disbursed through 2029.
Also, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently said that Ukraine had not received $16 billion in US aid under previous agreements.
