Ukraine’s UN Permanent Representative says Russia is already losing war

Russia is already losing the war it started against Ukraine, and its economy is being increasingly drained by the costs of aggression, sanctions, and Ukrainian strikes, states Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Andrii Melnyk, during a UN Security Council meeting.
According to the diplomat, Moscow continues to suffer significant losses on the front lines. Each month, Russia loses at least 30,000–35,000 military personnel, by his estimate.
Russia is finding it increasingly difficult to recruit servicemen
Melnyk noted that the rate of Russian army losses exceeds the Kremlin's ability to attract new contract soldiers.
At the same time, Russian regions are being forced to offer increasingly larger payouts to incentivize people to join the army. According to the Ukrainian Permanent Representative, Russia is also recruiting vulnerable segments of the population into its military.
This includes, in particular, prisoners, migrants, recently naturalized citizens, and mercenaries.
Melnyk stated that Russia is becoming exhausted
The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that Russia continues to expend significant resources on the war while simultaneously suffering heavy losses.
In his view, this indicates the country's gradual exhaustion. Melnyk also stated that instead of spreading claims about the Ukrainian army, the Russian leadership should focus on the problems within its own armed forces.
Melnyk said that instead of spreading disinformation about the Ukrainian army aimed at inciting hostility and division within Ukrainian society, Mr. Nebenzya should perhaps reflect on the alarming reality within Russia's armed forces.
He stressed that Russia is already losing the war it started and will ultimately be defeated.
